Trees, over time, can envelop objects in their path of growth. This phenomenon is called “edaphoecotropism.” As the tree grows and expands, its bark and wood will slowly grow around items that are affixed to or leaned against them.

Yesterday, we were privileged to assist the Town of Plainfield by removing a hazardous maple. Upon inspection, we discovered the tree was hollow inside, further compromising its integrity. This is a prime example of how dying or even seemingly healthy trees can pose unforeseen dangers.
